Even though I come from a family of cooks and dinner time was a sacred ritual, it was in graduate school that I fell in love with food stories. After finishing my masters in Publishing & Writing in Boston, I left my job at the magazine I was working at and enrolled in a culinary course in Ireland to bolster my food writing with a bit of technical authority.

I fell in love with the creativity, food science, and the pressure of working in a kitchen, so I told myself that while I was young and the terrible hours didn’t matter so much, I should continue to hone my craft in the culinary industry.

And so I did for the next 5 years!

I worked in fine restaurants and bakeries all around Dallas (my hometown) until I decided I was ready to put down the knife and pick up the pen again.

Those years have greatly informed my writing and my desire to constantly be a student of life. There’s no topic I don’t enjoy researching and learning more about.
